Transportation Terms
My freight carrier just used the terms "heavy weight" and "light weight" in reference to the weight of my exhibit shipment. What does each term mean?

Heavy weight (or gross weight) refers to the weight of the freight truck including your shipment. This figure is usually obtained at check-in at the marshalling yard - or somewhere en route before your shipment arrives at the convention center.

Light weight is the weight of the freight truck excluding the weight of your shipment. This figure is usually obtained after your freight has been unloaded at the show, often upon checkout from the marshalling yard.

By subtracting the light-weight figure from the heavy-weight figure, you'll arrive at the true weight of your particular shipment.
