New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Event Manager Receives Prestigious Certified Venue Professional Designation
9/2/2025
NEW ORLEANS – Erin Oubre, Event Manager at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (NOENMCC), recently received Certified Venue Professional (CVP) designation from the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) after undergoing a rigorous program. The program highlights mid-level to senior level managers, recognizing their knowledge and experience in venue management. The recognition distinguishes what it takes to successfully conduct operations through venues nationwide.
This designation recognizes young professionals who are committed to the industry and strive to continuously develop into their role. It includes an intensive certification course and a 150-question exam that gauges knowledge in key aspects of the event management industry like leadership ability, risk management, communication and monitoring crucial operations.
“Erin’s ability to understand the event management business and bring a new perspective to the industry is invaluable, and it is wonderful to see that expertise recognized,” said Elaine Williams, CMP, CEM-AP, Chief Commercial Officer at NOENMCC. “She consistently builds strong relationships with clients, managing multiple extensive projects and ensuring clear communication through all our departments.”
Oubre has been a dependable asset to the Convention Center since joining in 2008. In her role as an event manager, she is responsible for maintaining client relationships, coordinating preparations for a broad range of events across diverse industries and serves as the primary liaison between the event management staff and the capital projects department as the Convention Center undergoes $557 million in major renovations.
Prior to this distinction, Oubre was also Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM) and recognized as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) in 2021. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Oubre has a strong foundation in communications and event management. A graduate of University of New Orleans, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication in 2002 and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Event Service Professionals Association (ESPA).
The CVP distinction for Oubre was a fitting highlight during a meaningful year for the Convention Center, which had the honor of hosting the 100th IAVM VenueConnect conference.
“Hosting our fellow hosts has been both an incredible honor and a rewarding challenge. While we always strive to impress and delight our guests, hosting peers from within our own industry certainly raises the stakes. Preparing for and taking my CVP exam during the same time brought an extra layer of complexity, and growth,” said Oubre.
