Whataburger® Brings Its Popular ‘Museum of Art’ to Life at SXSW In Celebration of 75 Years of Flavor and Creativity

SAN ANTONIO – Whataburger has been fueling big appetites and even bigger imaginations for 75 years. Now the brand is celebrating in the most fitting way—bringing its celebrated digital fan art to life at SXSW 2025. A social media sensation that turns brand love into brushstrokes, the Whataburger Museum of Art (WMOA) will become a one-of-a-kind art gallery experience in downtown Austin.
Born from fan artistry across Whataburger's 16-state footprint, WMOA began as an online community where devotion to the brand was captured through paintings, sculptures, digital designs, and more. When the pandemic paused plans to create a physical WMOA gallery, the brand pivoted to Instagram, launching @TheWMOA in 2021. Artists began tagging their work for a chance to be featured, creating a vibrant celebration of fan expression. Now, WMOA makes its long-awaited real-life debut at Wanderlust Wine Co. (610 N. Interstate Highway 35, Austin, Texas 78701).
This limited-time exhibition showcases selections from the more than 200 original pieces in the WMOA collection, spanning digital, mural, abstract, and pop culture art—each with a signature Whataburger twist. And because fandom isn’t just something to see—it’s something to experience—visitors can interact with special gallery elements that bring their favorite Whataburger moments to life:
The WMOA @ SXSW exhibit is open to all on March 8-9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday, March 8, attendees can also stop by the Whataburger Food Truck on the back patio for a taste of the Limited Time Offer, the Monterey Melt—because great art deserves great flavor.

- The Table Tent Mugshot Wall: A playful nod to the tradition of “collecting” Table Tents. Attendees can snap a pic with and take home a specialty Whataburger 75th Anniversary + SXSW 2025 Table Tent, only available at the WMOA experience.
- 3D Art & Digital Displays: A mix of standalone pieces, sculptures, and digital installations showcasing the limitless ways Whataburger inspires artists.
