Oversized props have long been a staple of world's fairs, including an 80-foot-tall Liberty Bell at the 1926 Philadelphia Sesquicentennial and a 17-ton block of cheese at the 1964 – 65 New York World's Fair. Wrigley Co. took it a step further at the 1939 – 40 New York World's Fair with its "World's Largest Store Counter." The massively scaled replica of the common retail fixture included a roll of wrapping paper as wide as a typical rug, a bottle of ketchup whose top would scrape the ceiling of an average room, and millions of sticks of regular-sized Wrigley gum that staff handed out to visitors.
